Optometrist
Dr. Aaron Wilmes is a 30+ year resident of Lawrence, Kansas. After graduating from Lawrence High School, he went on to receive his undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology from the University of Kansas. From there, Dr. Wilmes proceeded to earn his Optometric Doctorate degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee in 2004. During his training, he completed an internship at Colmery-O’Neil Veteran Administration Medical Center in Topeka, Kansas where he gained valuable experience treating and managing dry eyes, diabetic eye disease, pre- & post-op cataract surgery, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and eye infections. Dr. Wilmes specializes in Comprehensive Eye and Vision Care, including Contact Lenses, Ocular Disease, and Cataract & Refractive Surgery Co-Management.
Dr. Wilmes is licensed to practice Optometry through the Kansas State Board of Examiners in Optometry. He is a current member of the Kansas Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association, the AOA’s Cornea & Contact Lens Society, and Sports Vision Section. He is also a certified Brilliant Futures Myopia Management prescriber. In addition to being an avid Jayhawk, KC Chiefs, and KC Royals fan, he enjoys traveling, coaching youth baseball, and spending his free time with his wife Kiersten, and their three boys.
Optometrist
Dr. Letourneau, originally from Concordia, Kansas, attended the University of Kansas as an undergraduate and student-athlete playing football for the Jayhawks. He received his bachelor's degree in Human Biology in 2003. After graduating from KU, Dr. Letourneau went on to study optometry at the University of Alabama-Birmingham, one of the top optometry schools in the country.
Dr. Letourneau enjoys all areas of eye health care, especially treating ocular diseases such as diabetes, dry eye/ocular surface disease, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. He has written on the importance of early detection of macular degeneration, most recently in Review of Optometric Business.
Dr. Letourneau has a special interest in fitting specialty contact lenses, especially for patients with corneal diseases such as ectasia, keratoconus, and high astigmatism. “To literally change a patient’s visual experience, after years of them struggling with their everyday vision, is one of the most rewarding moments we enjoy as physicians.” He is a member of the Scleral Lens Education Society.
He is passionate about myopia management. “With our creation of Mighty Eyes, our myopia management clinic, we are treating at the highest level, improving the quality of life and future opportunities for children with myopia.” Dr. Letourneau is a member of the American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia control, as well as a certified Brilliant Futures Myopia Management prescriber.
The most rewarding part of Dr. Letourneau’s profession is assisting those in need through SEE International. He travels annually with a group of eye surgeons to Milot, Haiti at Hospital Sacre’ Coeur providing medical and surgical care to thousands of patients in need.
Dr. Letourneau’s greatest accomplishment is being a husband to Karla, and a father to their 5-year-old daughter, Isla. Their family enjoys exercising, traveling, watching Isla participate in sports, always looking for new and memorable experiences.
Richard, Operations Officer for Limestone Eye Care, maintains the day-to-day operations ensuring each patient has an unmatched eye care experience. Richard attended American Business & Technology University where he studied Business Administration & Information Technology.
Richard resides in Shawnee, KS with his girlfriend Samantha and children Ashton, Elijah, and Hayden. He enjoys spending time outdoors, long rides on his motorcycle, and being around his loved ones.
Karla, a veteran in the optometric industry, serves as the Patient Care Coordinator at Limestone Eye Care. Karla's knowledge and passion for her position along with her willingness to continually strive to exceed patient expectations help to ensure the eye care experience at Limestone Eye Care is second to none! While Karla enjoys all aspects of the optometric office, she particularly enjoys getting to know the patients on a personal level which helps to create a very warm and welcoming environment.
Karla and her husband Dr. Letourneau reside in Lawrence, KS. Together they have a spunky, active, and fun-loving 5-year-old daughter, Isla. Karla enjoys spending her free time with family and friends, supporting KU at various sporting events, being very involved with her church, and staying active.
Shelby is our Lead Clinical Coordinator who has 7+ years of experience in the eye care industry. While she has been cross trained in many positions in the office, she loves being able to greet patients as they enter to ensure your experience starts with a caring and friendly smile.
Shelby has worn glasses or contacts for much of her life, helping her appreciate the blessings and benefits that have come with advances in eye care technology. Her grandfather was an optometrist and one of Shelby's greatest rewards is being able to follow in his footsteps, keeping eye care health in the family.
Shelby graduated from Emporia State University in 2006 and moved to Lawrence shortly after. When she's not at work she enjoys spending time with friends, going to the gym, attempting to be crafty, and sleeping in on the weekends! Shelby's companion right now is her cat, Peter, and he keeps her on her toes trying to keep him out of mischief.
Brandi is proud to be a Lawrencian. She has over 20 years of medical billing, coding and patient care experience. Brandi makes it a point to personally get to know each and every patient, she strives to make every patient feel welcome. Her love for her position makes it easy to consistently exceed the expectations of every patient and visitor.
Brandi and her husband Tom have been happily married for 26 years. Together they have a son, Andrew. Brandi enjoys spending time with family and friends, camping, float trips and her yearly Florida vacations. She loves everything that involves being out in the sunshine.
Chelsea is our cheerful eyewear specialist. With her love for helping others, she is excited to assist you in selecting your perfect eyewear. Her favorite thing is the excitement on our patient’s faces when they try on the perfect frame! She ensures the frame not only looks magnificent but is a perfect fit for each patient’s unique facial characteristics and individual style.
When you don’t see Chelsea’s smiling face in the office, you may see her with her newly wedded husband or being a loving bonus mom to his three kids! She loves cooking and spending time with friends.
